First comes love, then comes the wedding planning! It takes time, but when the Big DayTM finally arrives, it’s amazing to see everything come to life. At Brideside, listening to wedding stories is one of our favorite activities, so we started asking brides about their special days. If you’ve got a #BridesideRealWedding story to share, let us know! We’d love to hear from you — and ugly-cry at your gorgeous wedding photos.

Brideside Bride Ashley Gets Hitched at a Repurposed Textile Mill!

We love a rustic-style wedding that still feels elegant and chic. Brideside Bride Ashley got the best of both worlds with her historic loft wedding in Greenville, South Carolina. Ashley and her now-husband Stephen said “I do” in a historic mill-turned-wedding venue overlooking the Reedy River. Their beautiful wedding boasted a ceremony with floral accents, a live painter and a snowy exit. Keep reading to learn more about their special South Carolina wedding!

What was the best thing about your wedding day?

The best thing about our wedding day was having all of our favorite people together to celebrate us getting married. I loved seeing all of the different elements we had planned come together, and how the day was a reflection of who we are as a couple. It seriously was the best day!

Your favorite part about working with Brideside?

My favorite part about working with Brideside was the staff. McKenzie, a stylist in the Brideside Charlotte showroom, made everything so easy. I told her what I liked and she literally did the rest. It was amazing. She was so helpful from start to finish!

Where did you have your ceremony and reception?

Give us your best advice for future brides.

My best advice for future brides is to take it all in! The whole day felt so surreal, but I tried to be present in each part of the day — from eating breakfast with my girls to the last song on the dance floor. Every part of the day was so important to me. I would also highly recommend doing a first look; you get to spend way more of the day with your future spouse and I loved that!

How did you meet your partner?

My husband and I went to high school together! He transferred to my school second semester of freshman year. We become friends later during sophomore year and we went on our first date junior year! We dated for a few months and broke up, but still remained good friends. We went to different colleges but they were fairly close to each other. We began dating again early freshman year of college and dated for almost three years before getting engaged!

How did you ask your bridesmaids to be part of the bridal party?

I took my each of my bridesmaids out for lunch, dinner, coffee or something fun and then gave them a card that said “Will you be my bridesmaid?” I also gave them a gold necklace with their first initial.

What did you do for your bachelorette party?

We rented a house in Nashville! It was so fun having all of my favorite girls in one place. Nashville has the cutest restaurants and shopping areas. I want to go back!

What was your first dance song?

“Take the World” by Johnnyswim was our first dance song.
