First comes love, then comes the wedding planning! It takes time, but when the Big DayTM finally arrives, it’s amazing to see everything come to life. At Brideside, listening to wedding stories is one of our favorite activities, so we started asking brides about their special days. If you’ve got a #BridesideRealWedding story to share, let us know! We’d love to hear from you — and ugly-cry at your gorgeous wedding photos.
Brideside Bride Justina Gets Hitched in Downtown Atlanta
A wedding means the most when it’s truly and authentically you. Brideside Bride Justina and her husband Max took this idea to heart with a wedding that blended beautiful tradition and modern appeal. We love how she added some glam to the industrial-style venue with chic decór, a little sparkle and some romantic florals. Hear what Justina had to say about her elegant Atlanta wedding and get inspired by all the vibrant details!
What was the best thing about your wedding day?
It is extremely hard to pinpoint the best part of our wedding day as everything went close to perfect in my eyes. If I had to choose, I would have to say the feeling of love, happiness and joy that filled the room was indescribable the entire day. We were super excited to marry each other and even more excited that our loved ones from all over the country were able to witness and celebrate this major milestone for Alfred Maxwell III (Max) and me.
Your favorite part about working with Brideside?
Overall, Brideside was exactly what I needed. My bridesmaids are working professionals located all over the United States, so for them to have the opportunity to go to either go to a Brideside showroom or have sample dresses sent to their homes to try on was very helpful. I wanted to make sure that each of them felt beautiful, confident and comfortable in their dress. With Brideside’s wide selection of dresses for every style and body type, it was great that each bridesmaid got to incorporate their own style into selecting their dress. Many of them plan to wear their dress again to other formal functions. Who doesn’t love a dress you can wear again?!
My favorite part about working with Brideside was Abby, our stylist. She was a lifesaver in helping me check the “bridesmaid dress” task off my wedding to-do list. With her help, I remained stress free, and my bridesmaids were happy with her assistance. She was very attentive and communicated with us throughout the process — from picking the dress color to placing the final order.
Where did you have your ceremony and reception?
Our ceremony and reception was at Terminus 330 in downtown Atlanta, Georgia. There were so many beautiful venues in Atlanta, but the industrial-chic vibe of Terminus 330 was definitely “us.” A plus was that it was centrally located to our host hotel as well as several restaurants and tourist attractions.
Give us your best advice for future brides.
Some of the best advice I got was from my makeup artist Me’Chele with Prettiest Problem on the day of my wedding. She told me before walking down the aisle during the ceremony (while all eyes are on you) to stop, take a breath and really be present in that exact moment.
I think at times brides (myself included) become slightly overwhelmed or even stressed out with wedding planning. It’s normal and bound to happen because we want it to be the BEST DAY EVER for our guests and us! In the madness, we lose sight of what a wedding is all about. Taking that time before walking down the aisle gave me that chance to “be in the moment” and soak up the thought of starting a new adventure and chapter in my life with my husband. This was one of the greatest feelings that I will cherish forever.
Which vendors did you use? Who was your favorite and why?
I believe we had the dream team for weddings. All of my vendors were accountable, professional and easy to work with. My favorite was Jennifer with Weddings By Epic. Without her, I do not believe our wedding day would have been as magical as it was. She is for sure the Beyoncé of wedding planning (and décor). Jennifer and her team kept me organized, always had a solution to any issues and recommended 99.9% of the vendors I went with for the big day. Her approach was to make sure the entire process remains fun. I loved that she was always honest and insightful with me. She knew my vision and she helped me execute it to the max.

How did you meet your partner?
Max and I met on Tinder. Ironically, we both worked for the same company but had never crossed paths!
Describe your wedding style in three words.
Industrial, romantic, elegant
Does your family have any wedding traditions? What are they?
We actually started a new wedding tradition at my wedding. Several months before the wedding, my aunt gifted me the tiara that my grandmother wore for her 50th wedding anniversary to my grandfather. Right when she gave it to me, I knew I wanted to wear it on my wedding day in remembrance of her. She passed away roughly 10 years ago, but it felt really good to know that a piece of her special day was a part of my special day. It is my hope that other women in my lineage will continue the tradition and wear the tiara on their wedding day.
How did you ask your bridesmaids to be part of the bridal party?
I ended up sending them all a “spa time” bride tribe box with face mask, bath bomb, ESO lip balm, jewelry box and handwritten letter asking them to take part in our special day. I actually had a bridesman as well. He got the same thing, and he gave the contents of the box to his wife! They came out super cute and everyone enjoyed them.
What did you do for your bachelorette party?
I have some really great friends that wanted to celebrate this time with me. I ended up having three bachelorette parties. My bridesmaids planned a trip for us in San Juan Puerto Rico for some fun in the sun. My friends in Florida threw me a “blue-haired” bachelorette party that included manicures, pedicures, escape rooms and scavenger hunt while wearing blue hair dye and blue hairpieces. Lastly, the week of the wedding, my sister-in-law got my entire bride tribe together for one last fling before the ring in Atlanta. We enjoyed a night of dancing and karaoke before crashing Max’s bachelor party.
What was your first dance song? First song that got everyone on the dance floor?
Our first dance was to “Angel” by Lalah Hathaway. Our whole reception was a dance party from the beginning. We assigned each table a song that was associated with a dance. As each table song came on the guest danced their way to the food station of their choice. We had several people dancing at their tables and in line waiting for their food. There was definitely a dance off for “Best Table” between Table 10 (The Stanky Leg) and Table 14 (Pop Lock and Drop It).
Anything fun or a great story you want to add in? (We’re wedding obsessed.)
A sweet moment was when the pastor ask “Who gives this bride?” and all the men who played a role in my life (brothers, uncles, cousins and godfathers) stood up in approval. It’s a great feeling knowing that they fully accept my husband into the family.
